Glass Fabric with Silicone
Glass fabric with silicone coating has become an industrial standard product and is available in many variations with diverse properties. These properties include good UV stability, weather resistance, cut resistance, water resistance, deep-freeze capability (down to -50°C), flame resistance, antistatic properties, and resistance to oil penetration as well as various chemicals and alkalis. These features offer many advantages for thermal insulation systems and fabric compensators. Additional additives can be added to the silicone compound to further enhance the polymer's properties, such as antistatic or conductive surface finishes, acidic or alkaline indicator pigments, and adjustments for thermal expansion.

Technical Characteristics
- Glass fabric with silicone coating is both deep-freeze capable and high-temperature resistant, suitable for applications ranging from -50 °C to 260 °C, and for short periods at -60 °C or 300 °C.
- The materials have excellent cut resistance and can be cut and processed with standard tools.
- Silicone-coated glass fabrics have high tensile and tear strength in both directions.
- Resistant to many chemicals, oils, greases, and solvents.
- he silicone coating makes the glass fabric water-repellent.
- MO-approved materials – International Maritime Organization.
- Also available in an antistatic version (ATEX).
- Conforms to BS476 / Class 0.
- Conforms to BS EN ISO 14419 and BS EN 20811.
Application Examples
- In thermal and cold technology for insulating pipes, containers, turbines, and other high-temperature equipment.
- As flexible seals or coverings in machines and equipment to protect against heat, dust, and chemicals.
- Glass fabric with silicone coating is used in many variations for the production of compensators.
- In industrial conveyor systems, particularly where high temperatures occur.
